What literature would you recommend for learning Java?

Hello.
I know and use C++, but I want to switch to Java. I have two options:

  1. Herbert Schildt. Java: A Beginner's Guide.
  2. Kay Horstmann and Gary Cornell. java".

What do you advise?

I think if you KNOW C++. Then you can read Herbert Schildt "Java Complete Guide". Good book in my opinion.

There is an opinion that starting from the second programming language, you need not read books for beginners, but documentation.

After that, read books for in-depth study.

A very cool Head First book "Learning Java" - just right to get to the core of the language and it's easy to read.
