Internet dropout problem on Ubuntu

Sony VAIO VPCEB2S1R

Ubuntu 10.04 The problem is this: when the network is sufficiently loaded (regularly 2 computers in the grid, 5 in total), the Internet starts to disappear. At the same time, the network icon in nm-applet does not change, that is, the network is in order. Most often this happens when a torrent downloader is running (transmission, changed to deluge - the same problem). What could be the matter and how to fix it?

[email protected]:~$ lspci | grep Network
02:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)

I see two options:
1. Install a new kernel version: 2. Install wireless-compat modules Personally, I went the first way, but if you are dumb to update not from off. repository - you can go for the second one.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kernel-ppa/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y

sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic

As I understand it, you are on the Internet through a wireless router?
Question #1: Are there problems with the connection or with the dns-resolve?
Question #2: Internet drops out on one computer or on all?
Question #3: What kind of torrents do you download/distribute (trackers closed or public)?
Question #4: What router are you using?

Similar problem. When the torrent downloader is running on Ubuntu 11.04 with the 38th core, it does not fall off. In NM, the icon changes and my connection disappears from the list. I sit through ADSL, WIFI is not connected at all. What could it be?
PS Ubuntu just started to master.

A friend solved this problem by installing wcid (this is a replacement for network-manager). Waffle stopped falling off

Gulped again. Yes, Atheros chips are really not always friendly with the network manager, so be sure to try it.
