Internet connection via PPPOE does not work after restarting the computer, how to solve the problem?

Yesterday I installed Ubuntu as a second OS along with Windows 10. The OS is installed separately, on two logical hard drives. Ubuntu version 18.04.

Internet is provided through PPPOE. The cable is inserted directly into the network card. I made the connection settings through the command pppoeconf, the Internet worked until the computer was restarted. After rebooting, the computer does not see physical connections, only wifi networks of housemates. The command pppoeconfalso does not work.

The problem was solved in the following way:

  1. Deleted the interfaces filerm -rf /etc/network/interfaces
  2. Rebooted the computer
  3. Re-executedpppoeconf
  4. The Internet works successfully until the next OS reboot

The problem does not affect the second OS in any way.

How can this problem be temporarily solved? Is this problem on the OS side or on the ISP side?

Use the graphical NetworkManager widget that hangs in the tray.
