Gnome: restoring Nautilus as main file manager?

I have Arch Linux with a Gnome desktop environment.
There was a need to look at Xfce4, which was successfully installed.
After the 1st entry into Xfce4 - a system question was asked about choosing the main file manager - I chose Thunar.
In the Gnome environment, Thunar was also automatically installed as the main file manager.
After the complete demolition of Xfce4 with the removal of all tangent configs, Nautilus did not become the main file manager.
Entering with "Places" will give an error like:

Could not open location 'file:///home/USER'
Failed to execute child process "/usr/lib/xfce4/exo-1/exo-helper-1" (No such file or directory)

Reinstallation of Nautilus does not give proper results.
Nautilus itself is respectively launched by the team $ nautilus
. There are several ways to restore the network, all are different and require strong picking of the system and are not written by programmers, so they have “dirty code” ( example ).
Help with practical professional advice.
Thank you.

gconf-editor -> apps -> nautilus -> preferences -> always_use_browser (put a bird) - doesn't it suck?

@Riateche

In gconf-editor check /desktop/gnome/url-hanlders/file.

After manipulating gconf-editor and advice from shadowalone + full reboot, everything fell into place.
Thanks to all.
