Installing Linux Mint is sooo slow and won't finish, what's wrong?

Good morning wt. connoisseurs.
Yesterday I decided to install Linux mint on my very old PC, but something didn’t quite work out for me and because of my inexperience I don’t understand what the problem is.
We have a Pentium 4 PC, 2 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD, a 256 MB discrete video card. I
recorded Linux Mint on 3 flash drives (2, 4, 8 GB) different images 19.3 and 18, these images are great for virtual machines.
When booting from a USB flash drive, a screen for selecting options appears, load the 5e8967991b3ae834554560.jpegfirst and second options, the next window will appear in 5-20 minutes, it may not appear at all.
After downloading Live and clicking Install Linux Mint, after 20 minutes a language selection window appears and then you can wait indefinitely.
Once I managed to get directly to the installation itself, but no progress bar appeared, I waited about 3 hours and turned off the installation.
What could be the problem, as I already wrote, I changed images, changed flash drives and even tried different hard ones.
P.s. I tried to write Windows 7 to one of the flash drives, the installation starts normally, without any hiccups and freezes

There was a similar problem. It turned out to be a problem with the video card. Try

Well, try some other distribution - like Xubuntu...
