Installing Gnome in Ubuntu, what's wrong?

After installing the gnome, I restarted the system to select, but the selection menu is empty. What could be the reason? gnome-shell --version will show that gnome is installed. Installed with these commands:
1) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3-staging
2) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
3) sudo apt update
4) sudo apt dist-upgrade
5) sudo apt install gnome gnome-shell
