Information security education?

Hello!
I'm going to university this year. I am interested in information security. At the moment, I have a very mediocre attitude to programming and knowledge in this area is minimal (I can write some simple console application for input/output/counting something). I can write in Pascal, C#, Lisp, Python. I am a little familiar with MS SQL Server, I can write trivial queries to the database.
1) Some kind of base in the field of information security is needed. Tell me, please, where to start diving from a technical point of view? I do not plan to associate my life with the development and computer protection of information, more humanitarian, perhaps, applications are of interest in the future, but you need to understand elementary technical things.
2) Can you please indicate the vector of development in this area? What steps do you need to go through and what skills should you have? I would be very grateful for advice on developments in this area and literature in the context of the described topics.

Mathematics, Encryption, Operating systems, Networks, Aircraft architecture. everything that any it-specialist should know.
you need to make a bias on the entrance exams, then focus on your studies as much as possible and find yourself a good place to practice. if you learn C well, then join openSSl - an open source project in your area is a great experience.

I'm studying to become an information security specialist. I can immediately say that it is better to improve physics, matan, electrical circuits and signals, circuitry. This is exactly what awaits you for about the first 2.5-3 courses. On programming, in theory, if the training program is the same, there will be bash, C ++ (possibly VB), and assembler.
If you have any questions, write to VK, I will help in any way I can.
