Image with shadow over video, is it possible to implement this?

A green circle with a person is a video, a white "magnifying glass" is a picture on top. A snag in the shadows. Can a CSS shadow be present on the outside but not on the inside (e.g. masked from the inside)? Or is the only option - to make a magnifying glass immediately with a shadow in PNG?
