IE on MacOS

There is a need to test sites under IE7-8. Operating system: Mac OS X Lion.
What options do I see:

  • Virtual machine: a place for an image, a non-native environment (you will need to make a ball of files), run a virtual machine every time you need to test.
  • Vine: I don't know how it is with compatibility and performance. If everything works as it should, then the best option.
  • Web services like browserstack. It didn't work for me, it hangs on Loading Flash. Perhaps also convenient. There will be problems with local files.

PS I like the second option, but I don't know how IE works under Vine. Who has a similar experience - I will be glad.

Worth VirtualBOX with Windows. Files are rummaged by standard means (shared folders). There are no problems, it consumes 5-7% of the CPU in the idle.

Virtualka is quite a good solution.
According to the points:
- Place under the image. Install Home Premium, remove unnecessary components like WMPlayer, etc. The image will take less than 10 GB. Quite bearable.
- Why make a ball of files in order to test the site? Well, now all virtual machines self-configure the ball during installation.
- You can "store" the car in a "sleep" state. Run 3-5 seconds. Quite comparable in terms of IE launch speed :)

Try Parallels Desktop: it allows you to run guest OS applications as Mac OS X applications. If you really need it, then this is a good option.

I use VMware Fusion for tests in Windows, it's quite a normal thing;)

VirtualBox is enough and it's free.

I once came across a bundle of different versions of IE screwed to wine under Linux. look - you can find an analogue for makos.

Didn't find what you were looking for?
