I want to put Linux on a weak MacBook 2007, which one to choose so that the video card works faster?

I have a MacBook 2007

  1. 2.16 Intel Core 2 Duo
  2. 4GB Ram
  3. Video Intel GMA 950 64mb

Apple no longer releases updates for it, it has been in the closet for several years.
Everything slows down a lot, you just use it to check your mail and watch an on-line movie
This is of course due to a weak video card Intel GMA 950 64mb
I want to install linux, but so that the possibilities of the video are revealed to the full :) For example, HTML5 video on sites can also be processed using differently.
Since in MacOS I will not be updated where it is used, and I also read that many were saved by switching to linux on the old hardware.
Thank you.

Ubuntu put on this one, but in the end, native OS X 10.7.5 (the last one it supports) was still more stable in the end. The only plus is that you can install the browser faster than the last one supported on the old OS X, but there were more minuses.
