Mail for domain
Kelv13, 2018-01-25 21:56:30

I want to make mail for the family on the domain. What is the best way to organize?

Question from an amateur: I want to make mail for family and relatives on the principle of first name @ last name.

The site is not needed. What is the best way to organize this? Is it enough to just buy a domain name without hosting and set up something like Zoho mail to make this scheme work? What other services are needed? Is whois protection needed, etc.?

I would like to get by with minimal investment.

You need 3 services:
1. Registration (and renewal) of a domain name - is bought directly from registrars or from resellers / hosters, as a rule, it is more expensive from registrars directly.
2. DNS zone hosting - can be provided both by the hosting provider with whom you register the zone (often for free, but for some for money) and by the mail service, there are also separate free services and Cloudflare, but they don’t make much sense.
3. Hosting mailboxes. You can take it from a hoster, but as a rule it costs money and is not always good. You can take it for free from Mail.Ru (biz.mail.ru) or Yandex (pdd.yandex.ru), you can also host the DNS zone there.
If in the .ru zone, then registration is based on passport data, and transfer is based on certified documents, additional whois protection is not required.

I would recommend free mail for a domain from Yandex . You can link a domain purchased from any registrar to it. In terms of price/reputation, Beget is optimal for registering a single domain. Other registrars have either discounts only for a large number of domains, or the reputation is not ice.

Whois protection is better to have than, no. Some give for free
What services are needed - it depends on you
Alternatively https://gsuite.google.com/pricing.html?tab_activeE...
Most often, no special settings are required there

Thanks a lot to everyone who responded!
As a result, I found a free version with everything you need on migadu.com - this is not advertising, I was looking for a free one for a long time, because I didn’t want either mail.ru or Yandex) Zoho became paid, unfortunately.
