Agree with previous answer. You can learn Java while programming Android, but it will be more difficult, since the Android SDK is a very big thing with a bunch of tools, that with knowledge of Java "a little more than the basics" will be incomprehensible to you in many places. In time, you won’t lose anything, but due to a very large number of incomprehensible things, you can quickly burn out and quit this business. I would advise you to first improve your knowledge of Java Core and, in principle, the basics of programming and OOP, and then deal with the Android SDK. So your entry into the world of Android programming will be smoother.
