I want something strange: how to make the mouse work in the console like in DOS?
In Linux and FreeBSD text modes, the mouse works differently than in DOS.
But if you run a terminal in KDE, then the mouse works.
However, KDE has a lot of extra stuff. I would like to launch only one window and not launch anything else.
The bottom line is that DOS had Borland Pascal 7.0 and it had a Turbo Vision shell
. Now FreePascal has an analogue - FreeVision
Accordingly, I would like to write programs "like in DOS", but using all the features of a full-fledged OS:
network support, work with DBMS and similar goodies. In the text console, programs can work like that, the only problem is that the mouse "like in DOS" is not supported. I'm trying to run x, in xtrerm x - and oh my, the mouse is not supported. And in FreeBSD-6.0, the function keys (Alt + X exit) also refuse to work (however, maybe I screwed up here myself). FreeBSD-7.0 supports function keys, but there are also problems with mice. The question is how to make the mouse work in a console running in graphical mode?
