I use a VPS service. How to check authorization protection on a VPS without getting into the intricacies of the issue?

I only know that the provider has a filter. number of requests ..
And can network tools (dns lookup for example) find out the hosting provider by the domain name and start brute?

What exactly do you want to check or what is meant by "authorization protection"? Somehow in more detail chtol would write!
If the root password is simple, then you can brute it. It is solved by limiting the number of attempts to connect to the server via SSH. Hard passwords take a long time to brute.
Sites are hosted on the server? Is there any certainty that there are no "holes" in the sites?
Protection options are quite a large zoo. Of the most famous are fail2ban and portknocking.
In general, it’s hard to say something at your request, since there are no details or any specific tasks =)

Check SSH keys. There was a case when the hoster put his own distributions in distributions.

of course they can
brute in general, there is no point in being afraid while the computers are weak
for ten years, they could not pick up a single password from me, on thousands of servers
