I have an idea to develop a desktop application. On the one hand, this is for yourself and you can distribute it for free, on the other hand, you need to invest a lot of time or money in it to achieve a good result and it was useful to many users. In my opinion, the simplest solution would be to insert ads into the application, but the application would be closed source. Also, during installation, make it possible to install all sorts of Yandex bars, etc. In the case of Open source, it will be more difficult to earn money, or it seems to me? In open source cases, other programmers will be able to help you write \ add if the application is really good or someone can make a donation to you.
Nobody likes advertising, closed code and Yandex bars.
