I have an idea to develop a desktop application. Open source or Freeware?

I have an idea to develop a desktop application. On the one hand, this is for yourself and you can distribute it for free, on the other hand, you need to invest a lot of time or money in it to achieve a good result and it was useful to many users. In my opinion, the simplest solution would be to insert ads into the application, but the application would be closed source. Also, during installation, make it possible to install all sorts of Yandex bars, etc. In the case of Open source, it will be more difficult to earn money, or it seems to me? I would be grateful for advice and information on this topic.

In open source cases, other programmers will be able to help you write \ add if the application is really good or someone can make a donation to you.
Nobody likes advertising, closed code and Yandex bars.

As for time or money, it’s (or) not appropriate, rather (and) provided that the application is commercial, another thing is Open source, if users really like it, then you can be limited only by time, about the fact that Open source doesn’t bring a penny, I won’t agree to take it though Open Server open-server.ruand look at the sponsors, about such giants as blender, gimp, python, I’m generally silent, if you take an awesome project and choose from two options for introducing it to the masses, paid or free, then the free one has more chances, its users will withdraw it, and the paid one should bring the investor to people, what to say, even if google launches ads on TV. Define for yourself what you want, to be the creator of a useful application for people in which, besides you, other users will invest their time and knowledge, and this dude will talk about you created a cool thing, this is Open source. Or you want to create a freaky paid project that will be sold in large numbers and after using it, half of the buyers will say that it is cool and the other will slander,
Choose what is closer to you and go ahead!
