Do it yourself
Igor, 2016-03-14 18:06:14

I did CarPC for myself .. and I had a question, where to look for like-minded people?

I decided once again to take up, like many, the unbearable topic of CarPC collective farming for my car, but Ostap suffered and in the end everything resulted in programming a certain universal platform for this business.
The sadness of this event is that I did the project for myself completely by myself and alone, and because of its heavyness (as it turned out) it dragged on for a year.
And so I decided to unsubscribe somewhere based on the results of my research and ideas. But studying our part of the Internet led to the following results:
== trying to tell motorists on the forums is an extremely thankless task, because with all the cars that I had, I spent a lot of time on specialized forums, and I understand that people there are not only far from IT, but also negatively perceive some kind of invention in a similar area as applied to cars ...
== Studying carpc forums finally approved the last conclusion and, in addition, gave confidence that people there only want a big screen and beautiful buttons.
== IT programming forums are very far from the topic of cars in general.
Hence the question. What do you think is worth doing and where to go? At the moment, I have an almost ready-made sketch-prototype of a reference device on this platform that can (well, almost can) collect data via ODB2, GPS data via an external receiver, and send them to the site via bluetooth to its application on android. And controlled through the head of the head unit of the car (from which only this very head really remained)
. just think about it ... will they throw me at once, or will someone even like it?
PS Yes, of course, all project sources are on github, they won’t sing a special ode to open source, but when analyzing the death of other projects, there is a clear pattern that closeness is one of the reasons for their death

It is also interesting, is there any specific community abroad? (of course I'll look for it myself, but maybe there is something more obviously known?)

By the way, about motorists, here on this resource the topics of improvements have always been accepted with a bang https://www.drive2.ru/
There are a lot of people there with hands and brains, including electronics :)
