Can't ping ubuntu from another computer on the same network as the machine.

When creating a virtual switch, in the Connection Type field, select External Network and your wireless adapter. Then your VM will have an IP address from the 192.168.1.0 network. Otherwise, like yours, the host itself (hypervisor) acts as a router.
