HP smartstart 8.7 bootable or not?

I want to clarify if you write a smartstart to a USB flash drive from their ISO - should it be loaded from it or not? It seems that it goes as a separate OS based on Linux, but in fact it doesn’t load anything, from debian, when you start their software, it gives Not dynamic executable and errors, and it doesn’t work from boot ...
And will this software allow you to check SAS disks for bad blocks? there is a raid controller, so smart is disabled ....
