How will software hybrid RAID1 SDD+HDD behave on windows?

Good afternoon!
The task is next. There is an HP Proliant ML110 G6 server with a "pseudo-hardware" RAID controller Smart Array B110i (read the same ICH10R). The controller has 2 ancient SATA2 screws in the mirror. On the raid lives win server 2008R2 + file database, the brakes of which need to be treated. Consider no budget. The thought came as an option to stick the third screw SSD and transfer the database to it. But what if we make a software RAID1 using Windows tools and pair an ordinary SATA disk with an SSD? How to understand if there will be TRIM and how many IOPS such a pair will give? Or is it better to leave 1 SSD without a mirror? They won’t give money for 2 SSDs, and they won’t praise them for data loss.

Give them a choice
  • Slow, Safe, Inexpensive.
  • Fast, Risky, Inexpensive
  • Fast, Safe, Expensive.

@MechanID

IMHO better than 1 ssd and regular backups.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I tend to believe that in this case 1 ssd and regular backups are the right decision.

@ifaustrue

We have been using StoragePool on Windows 2012 in hybrid mode for 4 Intel SSDs + 8-10 SAS for two years now. Very pleased.
