How to write applications for Windows Phone, having a phone on this OS, in order to test them on it?

That is, the question is that some kind of license is needed to check your program on the phone. Or does the developer need only VC and the phone itself?

Microsoft, as always, snickered. You have to pay for everything. The phone must have a student unlock or custom firmware. Visual Studio + WP SDK are required. Things are hard on WP if you're not a student.
