Legal issue when porting a board game to an online analogue

Hello everyone, I want to make an online game based on a board game. I'm interested in the legal issue of how much the game should differ from its desktop counterpart so that there are no problems with copyright holders, adding to the appstore, etc. The game was created in 1995 in Germany.
