How to watch the log-file so that it is updated realtime in the viewer?

Tell me, please, what program can be used to view the log file (located on hdd) so that they display all changes in real time, without pressing the "Update" or "Reload file from disk" buttons?
The question is relevant only for MacOS (Mavericks) and Windows (7).
Thank you!

1. The usual tail -f command on the command line - tail is available for both Mac and Windows (you need to download unix utils for windows or put some git thread that goes along with it)
2. FAR can do this
