How to upgrade yourself in design patterns?

There will be a test on design patterns: according to the verbal description of the problem, you will need to decide which pattern to apply, why it is, what result it will lead to and how this solution is better than others. Time is short (2 weeks), Fowler's book is going really hard, any advice?
