How to uninstall/update the program if the .msi file is missing?

For some programs, it is impossible to find the .msi file of exactly the required version at all, incl. what other options are there?

1. Try through the "Toolbar -> Add or Remove Programs" to remove it (it seems sometimes it also rolls for programs without this file).
2. Try to determine which folders were affected by the program in addition to standard places (% appdata%, my documents, program files), delete files from there manually and then clean up the tails in the registry with special software (which is full) or manually - Win + R > regedit > ctrl +f "search" > remove all entries from the registry.

Try the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, it has helped many times in this kind of cases.
