How to turn down a candidate after an interview?

At work, I encountered a new type of activity for myself - the selection of people for a team.

Actually the question is: how should candidates be informed that they are not suitable for us at the moment?

1. Be sure to answer him as soon as you have made a decision.
2. Be honest about what didn't work and why. Inadequate do not care, adequate will help in the future, and you plus in universal karma :)

how to communicate to candidates

Should be reported immediately and honestly
. The worst thing is “we will call you back” without calling back.
If there is a solution, even a negative one, let me know right away.
The best option is to make a decision during the interview and report immediately.

If you don’t want to offend a person and refuse, then _obligatory_ you need to answer, just say that you looked at it and decided that it falls short, this is not offensive, this is normal. It's a shame when they freeze and do not answer =)

I usually, after the candidate sent out a test task, answered in detail, they say here, here and here everything is sad. But you, they say, do not be upset, pull up this, this and this, and if there is another vacancy, we will keep you in mind. And in that spirit.
30 percent answers “OK”, another 30 is silent, and the rest are indignant in this spirit saying “who are you so that I still try to write a good test for you here”. To such answers I always feel that I correctly refused :)

I, as an interviewer, only ask that you inform me of your decision, and preferably as soon as possible - as soon as it is accepted. I really don’t like it when they just say “we’ll call you back” - and nothing. If there is an opportunity to indicate what exactly I don’t suit you, then that would be great in general, but it’s possible without it.
If you don't want me, that's fine, but I need to schedule my next interviews. And if I like you, then I really look forward to hearing from you. You certainly understand how valuable time is.

Спасибо, что откликнулись на нашу вакансию, но в настоящий момент мы не можем принять вас на работу. Однако, мы сохраним ваше резюме и если в будущем нам понадобится специалист вашего уровня, мы с вами свяжемся.
In general, the Labor Code of the Russian Federation clearly states the obligation of the employer, after a written request from the candidate, to indicate why exactly he did not fit the position, and with this refusal the applicant can go to court and if the court considers the reason not weighty enough, you may be obliged to hire a person to work. So in the text of the vacancy, the requirements should be as clear as possible, and in the written refusal, either not to apply, or indicate, as mentioned above, a specific reason for a specific candidate. the option “we accepted a better specialist” can be parried “explain how you compared” “compared according to the competition” “why did you understand that they didn’t post it?” then back to court. Sometimes such problems can be avoided by recruitment agencies - they are not an employer and can refuse anyone for any reason.

I am:
Dear ....,
Despite the fact that you have certain qualities we need, we are not ready to make you an offer at this stage.
We will contact you as soon as we have suitable vacancies for you,
Regards…

Depends on what goals you want to achieve:
To show a person his insignificance.
Refuse, but set aside his resume, as perhaps in 3-6 months you will need a person with his qualifications.
Do not offend a person who is generally very good, just not enough qualifications yet.

Usually they say: "We have your phone number, if anything we will call you." The truth is not very convenient for those who are arranged.

I don’t know how it’s right, but as an applicant I want to be pointed to specific reasons why I’m worse than others. If there was a test task (at least on a piece of paper), then comments on it (at least verbally) or a reference solution.
And then many complain that sensible workers cannot be found, and no one explains what is not sensible in us, who are always denied. As a result, you spend time studying some things that seem important to you , but the next interview shows that you were wrong, and in a circle.

I myself am looking for a job now, so the view will be more likely from that side.
When going through an interview, you want to know exactly when the employer will fill the vacancy, sometimes a specialist is needed urgently, and sometimes they are looking for slowly, for a person in an active job search, this is important to know.
I want them to call and say - yes or no, and within a clearly defined timeframe - a week / month.
I believe that if there was a personal interview, and not just sending a resume by e-mail, it is worth showing respect for the candidate and finding time for a short call.
If a person does not fit perfectly, I think it will be easier (?) to say so right away. Some people find it hard to say no to people in person.
Just put yourself in the shoes of a person who is looking for a job, how would you like potential employers to behave towards you? And compare it with how you behave. Did you find any significant differences? So there is something to work on.
But the very fact that you are thinking about how to report a disclaimer shows that you are on the right track. After all, communication with potential employees forms an opinion about the company as a whole. Yes, everyone will not be very pleased to hear no, because everyone subconsciously wants to hear yes. But when the first dissatisfaction passes, an understanding will come of how important clear certainty is and what options you should definitely not count on.

If the person does not suit you, tell him about it right away and specify why you made such a decision.
Standard replies about "we will keep your resume and will certainly contact you" - only if you actually do it.
Be honest, it makes a difference and removes many, many obstacles.
If a person wants to work for you, having learned what exactly he falls short of, he can improve his knowledge and turn to you again.

I saw how the boss conducts an interview.
There is a common refusal: "we will call you." A person immediately understands that he did not fit. If you add the word necessarily, then such a phrase is not a refusal.
If the candidate, during the interview process, himself realized that he would not pull, and he did not pull so much that he was no more suitable than a cleaner, you can say “you are not suitable for us” or “we will not call you.” The candidates were all in agreement with this answer. Just try to understand. what a person thinks about, the answer will come by itself.

As an honest candidate, I have always loved companies that honestly told me sorry but at the moment you are not suitable for us, they could indicate the reason or did not indicate them and said come back to us in a year.
This will always have a positive effect on an adequate person for honesty, the worst thing is when you are waiting for an answer, and either they don’t answer you or they say, and we’ll think about another week.

Here is another difficult case. The person was fully qualified, but there was one unpleasant moment - he smelled very bad, despite the fact that with him as a person, I think we would have worked well together. I could not give a positive answer, HR refused.

I have a question for everyone...! we have crowds of candidates on the recruitment day, and we give them a branded questionnaire to fill out, and some candidates fill out the questionnaire for half an hour, and this is what they bring to the crowd, I want to avoid this event so that our office is not crowded with candidates reception days ! so the question is included in the fact that ... how can a candidate, without issuing a questionnaire during the conversation, refuse correctly? since in our country, according to the labor law of the Republic of Uzbekistan, it is impossible to refuse directly.
