How to transfer data from a motion sensor to a computer?
Hello! I’m completely unfamiliar with microelectronics and it’s hard to understand where to start ... Actually, the idea is this: there is a motion sensor somewhere in the room, as I understand it, when it works, the circuit opens, I want to receive this signal on computer. Now the question is how to transfer this data to a computer and process it? I'm friends with programming.
I read about some options:
1) Use an arduino type microcontroller
2) Transfer data somehow through the LPT port.
In general, initially the idea was simpler - something like an alarm. The sensor worked, some speaker with a siren turned on, but it became more interesting to write it all down in some kind of log, generate an email message, etc.
Tell me, in which direction to look, what to read? Thanks :)

I support @Sterhel 's advice , study and study again.
Actually, the simplest, for you, option is "Transmit data somehow through the LPT port", but no one will paint it.
