How to track changes in configurations?

Good afternoon!
A task arose to track changes made to configuration files on several servers.
The point is to have a graphical interface from which you can manage backups of configuration files, as well as see the difference between them and preferably the author of the changes. What does this thing have to work on its own, ideally save changes after each edit of the tracked file. Target systems: FreeBSD and Linux. There are few servers, less than a dozen.
What free products are suitable for this?
