How to temporarily disable site caching?

I'm tired of reminding customers to refresh the page with ctrl + f5 or ctrl + r to clear the cache and see the changes. How to disable caching? I didn't find it on hosting. Maybe through .htaccess ?

This is a crutch solution.
In order for browsers to automatically detect the latest version, you need to link Javascript, CSS, giving the files unique names (usually a hash sum from the content), or as Froggyweb pointed out in the comment .
Bower or more advanced tools. Let the frontend guys correct me.
