How to switch video output to HDMI in Ubuntu without using a VGA monitor?

There is only a system unit with a GeForce video card and an HDMI output on it. While there was a monitor, I installed Ubuntu 13.10 and Teamviewer there - everything was fine. The borrowed monitor was returned to the owner. I turn on the computer, wait until everything is loaded, the computer glows in the Teamviewer control panel. I connect - "Initializing the display parameters of Teamviewer" and does not work further. To hell with it.
I connect the computer via HDMI to the TV. At the stage of booting the computer, everything is fine - you can see POST, you can enter the BIOS, and so on. You can even see the Ubuntu boot screen. At the moment when the desktop is loaded, the HDMI output is turned off and the image disappears.
The questions are - what's wrong with Teamviewer and how did you switch to HDMI in Ubuntu without having a regular monitor at hand?
