How to start self-learning web design?
I worked as a web developer for half a year (frontend + backend), I decided to self-teach design in order to become one web design specialist and front-end developer in the distant future. What would you recommend to start self-study? Or is it still better to go to some university in the direction of a web designer? (I myself think that it is nonsense to go to a university where old people teach web design)
I worked as a developer only with figma.

I have been designing for over 10 years.
1. If you have money and desire, you can go to some skillbox or geekbrain courses. No, you will not become a good designer, but you can get some basic knowledge in one place. It's better than tearing pieces here and there.
2. If there is no desire to pay (I don’t either) - two books and one resource will help you.
Books:
- A mental hospital in the hands of patients
Will tell you what design really is.
Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs. Talk about how to work on products.
Resource:
- advice from the Gorbunov Bureau. Or their ebook. There is a lot of good correct information there.
3. No need to read dull books about color, composition, and so on. If the process itself does not shove you, then such literature will be very difficult to give. Just a waste of time. Plus, without practical experience, it is very difficult to apply what you have read. Just because you don't know where.
4. Learn to work on the dribble and behance. Look at graphic techniques, at color, at the grid, at working with letters. Bookmark your favorite work. This will be your source of inspiration.
5. Draw. There is a project - select several references from other works for it and compile into a new one. Do not try to come up with your own - it is impossible at this stage. Borrow ideas. Just do not need a clean copy-paste. Do something similar but your own.
6. Draw fakes. We came up with the idea of a startup/shop/service/whatever — let's go draw. Most of the works in the portfolio of designers are similar concepts. Consider it a workout. Like football players. They also have training sessions and matches. So do you. Concepts - training. The real project is a match. This is a given. On live projects alone, you will study for 10 years.
Well, consume as much information as you can reach. But this is true everywhere, not only in design.
Good luck!
From the lessons on YouTube, there are a lot of them. There is no university in the Russian Federation who would normally teach web design ... and there is no such direction anymore. Learn ux/ui design. Learn figma and sketch, also protopie and principle. And see what cool studios are doing, use this site every day https://www.awwwards.com/
I'm not a web designer, but I'll still tell you how I became a developer. I am completely self-taught, I did not spend a single ruble on my education. My journey was long, but I was in no hurry to get anywhere. I studied the material on video courses (mostly), but I got most of the experience in practice. I think this is always the case when you work on a real problem, all your theory is reinforced, so you understand the material more. In my opinion, if you wish, you can do without a university / courses on the Internet, of which there are a lot on the Internet. Learn from video tutorials, books, any materials from the Internet, the main thing is not to stop doing it.
