How to start learning 3d modeling? Where can you find theory?

So, I decided to make 3d modeling my hobby, but I don't even know where to start. I remember at school (and I'm still at school) we worked on computers and made 2d drawings of various parts, as well as a little 3d. All this seemed very interesting to me. Well, now I have roughly figured out the types of 3d modeling and, as I understand it, the creation of 3d models of parts (there are all sorts of gears, machine parts, some kind of mechanism) refers to CAD (maybe I don’t understand everything, then tell me what to what). All I dug up is a video showing how to build this or that part, but I would like to start, so to speak, from scratch, study the theory a bit in order to roughly imagine what's what (I don't want to go deep). I would also like you to advise me in which program to work. I understand using a compass for this purpose is not a good idea. Is SolidWorks good for a beginner? Please advise also sites, channels with theory on 3d modeling.
What I want to know and be able to:
- create 3d models of different parts, simple and complex
- a little theory, the basics of 3d modeling

There are also SolidWorks and AutoCad programs for development. Compass is our program, in Russian, it’s quite understandable, you can start studying with it, then it will be easier to master solid or something else.
