How to start a system administrator who has come to a new job?

Came to a new job and don't know where to start.
At the last place of work, I raised servers from scratch, so in that network I am like a fish in water (everyone knows what is where and what license is installed).
Who gets to know the new work environment and what tools do they use?
Thanks in advance for your replies
. UPD:
The previous sysadmin left 2 days after I arrived. I can't get in touch (I got lost) =)
So far I know that all the equipment is old everywhere XP licensed servers 1 Windows 2003.
Vladimir: Did you have problems scanning workstations with a firewall?
I tried PSTools for remote data collection. on some it just doesn't let me in =) maybe casper maybe a firewall
Thanks for answers. approximately and planned to make a census of equipment, a diagram of where everything is (cables, hubs, PC), where everything is installed and passwords in the keypass to score. And for documentation, use something like windows visio.

I start with the documentation - the employment contract, the duties of the administrator.
Next, we go to get acquainted with the accounting department and key persons of the enterprise. Can be put down. We listen to what a bad / cool admin was before us.
We go to the accounting department after the "team building" and ask to provide documents for payments for software (at least for antiviruses). Along the way, we are looking for a server in the network and physically, we carry out its inventory of hard + soft. We go to the users and compile a list of software installed in their places, at the same time we find out about access (whether Admin is possible or the user has admin rights). We listen to what they need, do not need, complaints. By the way, you can find "helpers" along the way, that is, those who flog in computers and change cartridges. Such people must be kept under vigilant control and won over by the recognition of their coolness (he speaks on an equal footing and praises).
But after that we make a conclusion about the office, draw up a list of software that is not licensed, go to the manual with paper, about making changes to the existing structure (buy something, remake something, and so on). This is a 6 month plan.
After that, you can scan the network, cut access, close holes, etc. Why? Yes, because if the boss does not get acquainted with this paper or sends you away with it, then you need to go away from this office.

If this is an office / enterprise, then I do this:
1 I make a network map of what is connected where.
2 I make a list - what services are on which servers/pieces of iron
3 I make a list of what goes where and how often it is backed up.
4 Studying monitoring and/or setting up hardware and server monitoring
Tools: och depends on the server/ hardware fleet
nmap
lldp
snmp
all sorts of things that use the above.

1. scan the entire grid and map it
2. Change passwords everywhere
3. Compile the entire hardware inventory list
4. Compile a software list.
5. In the accounting department, take the docks for purchased software. Clean employees' computers from everything left
6. Set up all the necessary monitoring.
Everything except point 5 can be implemented using the appropriate software.
And if the old admin faded and does not get in touch, then something is unclean. And perhaps the passwords need to be changed first, and only then to understand the nuances.

The previous sysadmin left 2 days after I arrived. no contact (lost) =)
a sure sign that the office is gogno. I strongly advise you to find it through social networks or at the address of the personnel officers and ask, you can even give a little money for the information.

servachek 1 windows 2003

Well ... I don’t see any problems at all, even without access)
Take and look at the server role, accesses, user groups and rights.
