Is it possible to use a cloud server for work?
Good afternoon.
Asked the following question -
There is a weak mac book, I want to use it for development. Interested in whether the following scheme is possible -
to buy a cloud server and install a graphical OS (Ubuntu) on it with the ability to connect using RemoteDesktop (?), As well as put an IDE on it and fully work on this server? What problems might arise?
Thank you.

It may not be expensive. Problems may arise depending on the tasks. For example, a normal Windows instance on Azura costs $10/month.
But you need to understand that virtual resources are always slower than real ones.
Your work will depend entirely on the Internet.
If you need graphics in development, then discard this option immediately.
In general, the idea is very delusional.
I don’t understand why in your situation you need to buy a “cloud” and not an “iron” server?
Buy the computer you need, install the OS you like on it, and work on it via RDP over your home WiFi.
If necessary, set up access from the Internet, and work not only from home. Static IP + port forwarding - and the server is accessible from everywhere.
Actually what is the problem to try it now? Many cloud services provide a free trial. In order to assess how convenient it is - quite enough.
If the Internet is closed, or the hosting is closed, your work is a skiff.
The hosting will have all your data. I doubt that there could be anything of value there, but if there is - under a license that you most likely will not read, this data will no longer be yours.
So it goes.
Yes, you can only question the price of such a cloud server will be on par with the price of a new powerful Macbook.
