How to speed up windows 7 under kvm?

Previously, I always drove Windows under xen and Windows is quite fast there, now I put it under kvm on proxmox, allocated a couple of cores and 4 gigabytes of RAM, the percentage is empty, the RAM is still almost three gigabytes free, but the response is terrible, the actions inside freeze.
What would screw this up?
I remember always putting paravirtual firewood in xen, are there the same ones for kvm?

In addition to the VirtIO drivers mentioned above (hard disk and network adapter), you can also install a video driver from vmware www.linux-kvm.com/content/using-vmware-vga-kvm-windows-guests
