How to speed up Ubuntu installed on a flash drive?

I often travel to clients and have to do some work on their computers. The computer constantly lacks the necessary software, you have to wait for the administrator to deliver everything you need, etc.
You can’t carry a laptop with you - I won’t explain the reasons, we’ll take it for granted.
In this regard, I decided to put a full-fledged OS on a USB flash drive.
I bought a 64 GB transend USB flash drive (USB 3.1 if important), put Ubuntu there. Experience in niksa cat cried.
The idea of the channel, all programs are always with you, everything works and no one arises about this, but there is one problem. Everything works with brakes. Often, when I turn on the next computer, I get a notification that hardware acceleration is not working (apparently it does not see the video card).
There are actually two questions:
1. What are the methods to speed up the OS from a flash drive? (maybe with some settings you can select more computer resources?) At least directions in which you can dig.
2. How can you extend the life of such a flash drive?

A full installation on a USB flash drive is not the best option. It is better to use LiveUSB with persistent mode. The kernel cannot be updated, but the programs can be reinstalled, and the number of entries on the USB flash drive during operation is minimal.
If you still want to continue working with the installed system, then you should carefully tune it in the direction of reducing write operations, since it is they that significantly slow down i / o and accelerate the wear of the flash drive. You should, for example, disable swap, logging, file system journaling, browser caching of web content, etc.
You can also consider using flashybrid.

Do you connect it on all computers in USB 3.0? And then the "normal" USB 2.0 is rather slow for the full operation of modern operating systems
