How to solve the problem with Nouveau display driver?

Installed Ubuntu 16.04 and the necessary software.
Everything worked stably for a long time.
Let someone else work on the computer.
Now the resolution is much lower, and you can't select a higher resolution in the system settings.
Selected in "Programs and updates" NVIDIA binary driver.
Works at maximum resolution, but some shortcomings in the functioning of application programs interfere.
If you select the Nouveau display driver, then the resolution is again small.
