When installing Ubuntu, artifacts appear on the screen, what do you want to do?

At the very beginning of the Ubuntu 14.04 installation process, a mess of multi-colored artifacts and geometric shapes appears on the screen. Notebook hp pavilion dv6

Install using text mode. And then deal with the driver for the video card.

Basically, the previous commenters are right, gdm didn't start. I'll try to give a quick fix recipe:
during boot, Ubuntu shows its logo, and at the bottom there is also an icon with a little man, a la "Accessibility". If at this moment you press something on the keyboard, you will be able to set the boot options. If I'm not mistaken, then F6 and there is an option - nomodeset. You need to install it, and after the successful installation of the OS, take care of proprietary drivers (which you will most likely need).

close the installation, and try to install in text mode, I think it will be possible to deal with video problems later!
