How to share a directory from the guest OS to the host OS in vmWare workstation?

There is a win7 and wmWare system with ubuntu 14.04 running on it.
Is it possible to make a shared directory from ubuntu guest to win7 host?
And it is necessary that symlinks work on Windows too.
Or is it easier to create an ext3 partition on the hard drive for such a task, mount it in ubuntu and in Windows (via the driver) and use it like that?
