How to setup RAID 1 to 4TB?

Hello.
There is an ASUS M5A78L motherboard (the latest BIOS), there are two identical disks of 4
TB each. I want to collect them in a mirror RAID array (RAID 1).
For some reason, the RAID configuration utility sees the disks not as 4 TB, but as 1.8, and creates two arrays: the first with 1.8 TB, the second with 2 TB (to be precise, 1677.84 and 2048 GB, respectively).
This is not very convenient, I want one space for the entire volume of disks.
How to do it?
I also discovered a strange thing: under WIndows 7, the RAID array looks like one disk, and under Linux - like two separate ones. Maybe it's better to buy a separate RAID controller?
