How to set up networking in nested ESXi hosts?
There is a physical server, ESXi 5.5 is installed on it, a virtual machine is running in it, in which ESXi 5.5 is installed as a guest. It contains a virtual machine with Windows 2008.
That is, it turns out like this:
0. Level 0 - ESXi + a number of other physical hosts;
1. Level 1 - a virtual machine with ESXi + a number of other VMs;
2. Level 2 - Virtual machine with Windows 2008;
Context: The Tier 1 ESXi host is a demo lab running on a primary production hypervisor. From it you need to "see" the surrounding physical hosts.
Problem: Win 2008 virtual machine "does not see" either the level 1 host or level 0 physical servers. "Pings are not coming", tracert stalls, etc. At the same time, it receives an address via DHCP (a DHCP server is a VM at level 1), but it cannot ping it.
Promisc mode on level 1 host virtual switch - enabled.
upd : got a hunch - you need to enable Promisc Mode on ESXi level 0 too. I can not check, there are no rights in the network. If who faced, prompt, please.

Actually, you need to enable promiscuous on the very first esxi #0
kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?lan...
arp leaves vm #2 - but the answer does not come - esxi#0 blocks responses, because poppy does not match poppy esxi#1
