How to set up MediaTomb on Debian 6?

I have been trying again and again and I can’t set up Media Tomb on Debian 6 (vmware) to play movies on Andriod (se wt19i andriod=4.0). Specific task: I have a 5gb *.mkv movie, I want to play it on a small android phone, and then on an 8th generation SamsungTV via AllShare. Because as a result, the task will be executed on WD My Book Life - I use the nearest Debian.
1) Why doesn't Samsung read most files via DLNA?
2) Why doesn't Andriod understand most videos even after transcoding?
