How to set up a VPN to work from the Moscow metro?

When connecting to WiFi in the Moscow metro, I can’t reach my VPN server, it’s unavailable, as if the connection is being cut. The VPN server is at home on the Synology NAS, I'm trying to connect from Android or iPad.
Does anyone know how to set it up?
PPTP and openVPN tested.
