How to set up a router and modem?
need help, there is an asus rt-n12d1 router and an asus dsl-n10e modem,
you need the router to distribute DHCP but the modem does not. how to implement it? I tried turning off DHCP on the modem, after that the router does not see the modem. 192.168.1.3 modem 192.168.1.1)
UP: Rostelecom provider PPPoE
UPP: found a solution, leave DHCP on the modem enabled, but change to another subnet, in the router WAN connection type is set automatically. thanks for the help.

You set up the modem as a "bridge", respectively, without DHCP and everything else, switch it to the WAN port on the router, on the router you raise a DSL connection with PPPoE, or as your provider provides, DHCP and other things that you need. At the same time, the modem "sees" (responds to pings) from the router and should not, if my memory serves me right.
Set up the modem with a bridge, as spisarenko advises , it will be easier to diagnose problems, there will be no extra hop in the trace, ping will become less for a split second, there will be no double NAT, mysterious special effects too.
