How to set up a proxy in Google Chrome?
History of the problem - Chrome began to slow down. (Chrome 17.0.963.12 dev, WinXP sp3, no proxy, PPPoE via router)
Symptoms - after typing the URL in the address bar and pressing "Enter", the request goes away, and it takes 5-70 seconds until something is displayed on the screen. Moreover, loading is fast enough, but accessing page resources can also stick for a few seconds.
History of an unsuccessful solution to the problem:
1. I thought there was a problem with the channel, but no - FireFox immediately "flies".
2. I thought a plugin or extension might be to blame. Disabled all plugins (chrome://plugins/), extensions (chrome://extensions/). I checked the enabled options (chrome://flags/) - everything is disabled.
3. I decided that there were problems with the cache or garbage. Clearing the cache and other data through CCleaner did not help.
4. They write on the Web that the user profile may have broken. Updating (deleting) the user profile did not help.
5. I decided that Chrome itself was broken - Uninstall Chrome, a complete cleaning of directories,
Reinstallation from scratch (I took the version from Yandex for testing) - did not help.
6. I realized that it's not about Chrome itself, but about how it tries to load pages. There was a suspicion that Chrome hangs at the stage of DNS requests. Played with DNS - did not help.
I found an option to run tests (chrome://net-internals/#tests) - why only the 7th point?
And I saw this situation (hereinafter, an excerpt from the testing table - requests to URLs with different settings and access time, the tested URL is www.ya.ru ):

The "Change proxy settings" button in Chrome opens the standard proxy settings for IE and Windows.
Aren't there any other programs like Proxycap installed that can redirect proxies to chrome?
These are often used for online games that do not have their own proxy settings.
These programs (I don’t know how to say it right) seem to deceive the application using the Internet, making it think that a proxy is already configured in it.
Well, first of all, the Fox is his life, and chrome is tied to Windows, IE, and so on.
Most likely, the proxifier was installed once, and was demolished by the usual shift + case, or uninstall and not checking whether it was deleted (especially wincap likes reinstalling Windows after it ....) or not
Well, first of all, look at all through what chrome connects and fox
further understand dns not dns, what else is there and so the ipconfig
console +
/? Справка.
I advise you to buy a quality proxy here https://proxys.io/?refid=1181
