How to set up a nodejs server?

I want to feel the node, in relation to an existing site in PHP, since there is an integration module. But there was a question how to organize the server. Site on VPS, 1 core 1GB. Do I need to take another VPS for a node? Or maybe one? How right?

NodeJS is still not a server, but a platform. Install nodeJS and run the webserver on a different port than the current one. You can also experiment on a local computer.
