try using powershell if the adapter can do this
Get-NetAdapterAdvancedProperty ADAPTER_NAME
like netsh could do it.

Can you clarify the model of the network adapter, the name of the application and the text of the error?
Have you checked that your adapter is sending 802.3 frames and not Ethernet II (can be done with wireshark)?
