How to save only selected object in svg from .ai file?

Good afternoon!
I don't know much about Illustrator at all. There is an .ai file with a set of icons. I need to select each and somehow save it in svg, so that I can later insert it into the page with code. When the desired object is selected, the File -> Save Selected Slices button is inactive in the program.
Thank you in advance!

@pashabomber

You wrap each icon in your artboard. Algorithm:
1) Make sure that each icon is a group (all elements are grouped - CTRL + G) or a compound shape (compound shape - CTRL + 8)
2) Turn on the artboard tool (SHIFT + O), pull the arbord on the icon "by eye" (principle is the same as selection)
3) Now to wrap the artboard exactly around the edges of the icon - double click on it.
4) Do this for all icons
5) Save as -> SVG, check "use artboards" and that's
it.
