How to reset the password in Windows 8 or at least reinstall it?

He pulled the hell out of a friend to sign for an upgrade from Win7 to Win8 for $15. The first attempt ended in failure, the second seems to be fine, but after the first one they came up with a password somehow “easy to remember”, but forgot it. Before installation, I burned the iso image to disk, after losing the password I made a bootable USB flash drive under Linux. Now the computer is loaded from it, but at some point it switches to the screw and again asks for the password without going into the installation. What to do?!

There are two ways:
MSDaRT and Windows Change Password / Registry Editor .
The first is prettier in Russian, the second has been tested repeatedly, it is more difficult in English.

It's unclear. What kind of failure was during the first attempt? Why is the second attempt "sort of"?

Now the computer is loaded from it, but at some point it switches to the screw

Judging by the description of nifiga, it does not boot from it, and what installation did you expect to see?
In short, either it's time for me to sleep, or everything is chaotic. Try to boot from a live cd with Windows, some of the assemblies have password reset programs. I don’t know how with the 8th, but it used to roll.

And the option to recover the password on Windows.Live will not work? I can’t presume to say, but my account is tied there and you can recover the password using the soap specified in the account. login.live.com/ - below the login / password fields, a link to the access recovery assistant.
