How to repair a toy cat-storyteller?

I was repairing the limit switches of the cat-storyteller toy, and confused "+" with "-". Now it does not work. In the diagram, in addition to the "drenched" mikruha, there are also radio components, a transistor, like a speaker, and some kind of 8-pin part.
Question: What is this part, what is it responsible for, is there a chance that it burned out and if you change it, will the toy work? Or is it all about the main mikruha and the cat will remain a vegetable?
