How to get into avimodelling?

As a child, he was engaged in rocket modeling. And now I really wanted to make something)
I don’t have much understanding of how exact copies are made (I own solidworks and a compass), calculation of characteristics - wing span, weight, etc. (the most difficult for me), and electronics (as a variant of arduino, etc.).
I don't need a working model right away. At least tell me how to make a prototype - Su-25 ("Rook"), there are drawings of frames.

Maybe 3d print. It is possible in the old way from plywood. I don't understand what's wrong? You print out drawings, transfer them to the material, saw, sharpen, ....
As for electronics, now there are a lot of ready-made controllers. You will need step motors. Everything can be bought as a set.
Google is just full of after searching. Anything your heart desires.

I can’t suggest anything, I can only sympathize with the fact that now they are doing much less aircraft modeling than 20 years ago.
